today begins the week. A week of normalcy. A week of routine. Vbs is over. Superwow is done. Now the summer flow starts. Today is also the first day of summer. With six weeks of summer break before school starts my qustion is this. What are you doing this summer that will make your home.life.school.friends.family.strangers better than this time last year? You only get out of life what you put into it. So put everything you got into somthing. Invest in somthing bigger than you and see what god does.

what are you doing to make this world a better place?

Good morning

Saturday. Up early. With lots to do.  I love being busy, but I hate being behind.  That's the problem with being busy, you have a great chance of being behind.  Eph 5:15-17 teaches us that we are to use our days wisely, and part of that wisdom is to put God's will as the only will you follow.  It isn't our top priority, it should be our only priority, a way of life.  If God is our focus, then everything we do is for the good of His kingdom.  However if we focus on our kingdom, then our deeds and works are what validate us.  The things we do is what defines our success.

Speaking with a friend of mine recently, my conviction is that it has to be good for His church, if not it has to go.

My challenge is to examine my life, am I busy doing the work of the Lord, or am I busy doing my agenda.

And home...

With that the last of the students are home.  So are we, and now showers are in order.  I cannot describe this week in words.  I can only say that if you want to know how this week went, come to church this Sunday.  Watch the young people, listen to them, and you will see the impact God had in 25 students from Lighthouse Church.

Here am I.....

lunch stop. Half way home. Should be last stop til sbridge. Trip has been fun today. Everyone singing and sleeping. Home stretch. Almost there...

Drew Worsham. Look him up. He is an amazing guy. He is our mentalist magician at superwow. This is the guy who read jordan's mind the first night. What sets this guy apart is he uses illusion as a tool for sharing the gospel. Im not talking about the lame dorky christian magician that made milk disappear at your uncles birthday party. Im talking real talent. He also is a fantastic speaker. He taught our morning devotion yesterday. He has a genuine love for jesus. Heartfelt.

drew joined us for dinner tonight. We had just finished eating and were prepared for tonight and in walks drew. All the girls freaked out. And the guys were excited too. He spent about ten minutes being attacked by teenage girls, signing shirts and bracelets. And then we sat down. Drew with us at a round table, just sharing. We asked questions abour his life. Jesus. And where he has been and where he is going. For about thirty minutes, he shared his heart and how much he loves god.Tia taught him to air hug

good morning. And what a good morning it has been. 101 Was challenged to lead this group in bringing superwow home. Breakfast had the first surprise. The young people received news that instead of three hours of beach time, they are getting 6. Happy students ensued. So tans and burns are coming home. :)

it rained last night here in jekyll. There's something about waking up first, enjoying the world for a few moments, watching God's world wake up before evrything starts and gets crazy and busy. especially after a rain. Some neat things are happening with the lcy students. Last night was amazing. Still. Real things are happening in the lives of these young people. Real issues are coming up and out.

rain is cleansing. Symbolically washing away the old. The excess. The dirt.

some of these students need a rain. My prayer tonight is god will wash over them. The holy spirit will rain down tonight. The breakthroughs we are on the verge are seeing...happen...tonight.

pray with us and for us. We are having a great time. Really do wish you were here

ready to get in for tonites service

Afternoon missions. We have been painting houses. Tj is knocking out th finishing touches of the side wall. Dena tia and ezekiel are trimming out. And torria and kerin finish windows.

now let me tell you about miss mary. She is a widow of a preacher here on the island. She is 73 yrs old and is very sweet. Maram and the two kyles had the privelege of meeting her and actually were able to put a face to missions.

the young people are having a blast and now we are preparing for dinner before our evening seminars.

Better is one day

all bandaged up!

After 1 day

SuperWow has begun.  Missions work tomorrow, but before that we must recap tonight.  We arrived on time with everything going well.  Dinner and evening worship were both great.  Matt Papa led us in some of the best worship.  Following that Drew Worsham amazed us with some illusions.  Our very own Jordan McBurnett was brought on stage and Drew guessed the picture Jordan drew.  Amazing!  Then Matt Petty delivered an amazing message.  God is doing awesome things here on Jekyll, and we are priveleged to be a part of it.

Then...

Our night was eventful to say the least.  Minutes into the pool, Rachel was hurt and had to go to the ER, She is ok, but hasn't been released yet.

And we were heading down the path to the beach when it ended into a cactus patch.  So most everyone had a "few" prickles in their feet.  But no major injuries on the beach tho.  But all in all we had a great time tonight.

Tuesday is lining up to be busier than today, can't wait to see how it turns out.

About 12 Hours

What can happen in 12 hours, 1/2 a day.  A lot.  12 hours ago, before I even woke up, I had not had the parent conference for Superwow, we had not rented the van yet, paperwork was not delivered, emails not answered, and schedules not confirmed.  Now sitting at the church, alone, 12 hours later, all these are accomplished.  In 12 hours, we will be embarking on the trip of a lifetime, most of which none of the students at LCY have ever attended.  There is something to be said about 1000 young people, 500 leaders, 500 staff and helpers in a collective worship environment.  A captive audience that can either embrace God, or be lazy.  A generation of young people that can show diligence, perseverance, and a commitment to listen to God.

12 hours, What can you get done in 12 hours?  What  impact can you have in 12 hours.  Jesus saved a world in less than 12 hours.  We can change a life in less than 12 hours.

12 hours.....time is ticking

Saturday Morning

I sit here Saturday Morning, June 12, absolutely amazed.  VBS 2010 was amazing, my dog amazes me, my wife's beauty (inside and out) is amazing.  My biggest amazement is my God.  His love for someone like me. His favor, His kindness, His Grace.  It AMAZES me.  Year after year, Amazing Grace is the #1 hymn.  I heard a preacher speak on grace, how it is the absolute opposite of works, yet most people live a works based religion.  Their favorite hymn goes against what they believe.  Funny.  God gave us this gift, ours to accept, yet we fail to grasp it....sometimes.  The dictionary defines "amaze" as "to overwhelm with surprise or sudden wonder; astonish greatly."  God is overwhelming, and his gift of grace astonishes greatly.  Today can be amazing.  Tomorrow will take care of itself.  God is Amazing.  Find something that amazes you.  Be amazing to someone.

First of many

Well, I finally entered the 2000's and started blogging. You can keep up with all the happenings for LCY and other youth items here. I will also try to post some of the things God lays on my heart. See you in the interwebs.
