Songs

I love songs. They are a very big part of my life. I love the memories they bring. Even terrible sings can bring you such awesomely happy memories. When you were young by the killers just came on when I was scanning the horrendous radio that atlanta has. But that song immediately threw me into memories almost too many to mention. Great times shared with friends or family. Even great times shared making fun of terrible songs bring a smile. We have been speaking about emotions in youth this month. Usually about how they can't be trusted for decisions or how we need to control them. They can be misleading. But emotions are how we are designed. God built us with emotion. We are not autonomous. But ride highs and lows. And while it is great advice to not be led by emotions, we also have these emotions to highlight specific moments in our lives. If a memory of a song brings an emotion that allows us to remember something that helps us live our life wiser, surely they can't be all bad. And they aren't. Emotions are overwhelming at times. Even jesus wept. Jesus in the garden even was saddened so deeply it says his soul felt crushed. And songs that bring memories so deep like that are awesome. Music has that ability. To drench you in a recollection of a time that might not ever return. Or the potential of a life you could lead. David loved music. It can be therapeutic. He even wrote parts of the bible out of desperation. Check out psalms. I am instantly transported into a better/worse time in my life by just a few notes. I wish I could write music. Melody, harmony, verses, chorus, bridge, breakdowns, intro, outro, tag, repeat. Who knows...if the life you lead can be viewed as a song, then shouldn't you orchestrate each step in such a way that honors the King, and lets others know exactly what you stand for and let it be a most pleasing sound..... I love you lord...and I lift my voice...to worship you...o my soul...rejoice...take joy my King...in what you hear...may it be a sweet, sweet sound...in your ear.
